From July 19th to 30th, 2019, the marketing and technical team of Liyu Group went to Sierra Leone to conduct an investigation and research on the 200MW natural gas power generation project in Sierra Leone, and conducted a field understanding of the project and local conditions, and succeeded with Sierra Leone Energy during this period. The Ministry signed a memorandum of cooperation on the project, laying a solid foundation for the next step of the project.

Sierra Leone is located on the west coast of Africa with a land area of 71.74 million square kilometers and a population of approximately 7.5 million. Sierra Leone is one of the least developed countries in the world. The people’s living standards are low and construction is seriously inadequate. The lack of electricity supply is the most unfavorable factor affecting the country’s business environment. At present, Sierra Leone has only densely populated areas such as the capital, Freetown. Municipal power supply, but the power is unstable. Therefore, the power generation project received great attention and support from the local government.

With the exception of Sierra Leone, most countries in Africa are facing serious power shortages, which have seriously hindered and affected the development of the local economy. Due to the lack of power infrastructure, diesel and heavy oil independent power plants are used to generate electricity in many parts of Africa. Although this solves the problem that the grid cannot cover, the operating costs remain high. Many countries in Africa have abundant natural gas resources, especially in Nigeria, Liberia and other countries in West Africa. This abundant and low-cost fuel is very suitable for distributed energy applications.

At present, Liyu Group will continue to actively communicate with local governments and partners according to the agreement in the memorandum of cooperation, and promote the implementation of the project as soon as possible according to the setting of the project roadmap. Not only that, Liyu Group also signed intentions with countries such as Zimbabwe and Liberia. It is believed that with the continuous “Deep Belt and Road” policy of the country and the deepening of the “Top Ten Cooperation Programs between China and Africa”, Liyu Group will develop more similar projects in the vast land of Africa.
